The cooperation project follows the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship innovation process:
Team and Vision
We enable arts & cultural organisations to be more entrepreneurial so that they can create a better society. We do this through a global network of hubs in which local creatives drive culture and economy.
Kick Off Meeting, Munich 2017.
The Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs Project identified 7 start-up coaches (and experts in creative industries) from Indonesia, Greece and South Africa. To kick-off the Hubs Project, the Start-Up Coaches were invited to the 1st Strategy Meeting and Coaching Training in Munich Feb, 28th – March 3rd 2017.
The session covered key concepts of start-up coaching and was facilitated by the Strascheg Centre for Entrepreneurship (SCE). This included:
- Coaching styles
- Presentations from Start-Up Coaches of their respective creative industry scenes
- Learning about the SCE innovation process
- Field trips to Munich-based creative hubs
- Networking with German-based industry players (government, private and non-profit sector)
- Defining roles and responsibilities
- Co-creating a vision for the hub project
- Roadmap with milestones and communication patterns within the whole project
- Most importantly, creating a platform to link all 3 hubs
The following results were obtained:
- The meeting was positively received by all for the strategic orientation of the project
- An intensive and open exchange of common goals and values within the project strengthened the team formation
- A common global Hub vision and mission was formulated. Local-regional Hub strategies will follow
- Strengthened commitment of the participants to build a network of Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs
- Clarity about common strengths, weaknesses and opportunities has been created
- A positive start to the building of local Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs – efficiently, transparently and networked through an overarching project management in Munich
Understand the Problem / Empathy for the People
In order to understand the local needs each city was supported by a start-up coach of the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship to answer the following questions:
1.What is the big picture that the hub vision finally adresses, the key interest that is pursued?
2. What is this CEHs final user/customer segment?
3.What is its solution, which services solve the problems of the local entrepreneurs?
4.How can you visualize this Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs easily (arrows/ maps/ pictures)?
5.How do you want to position the Hub and who are your partners, competitors?
6. What is the underlying business model for such a Cultural Entrepreneurship Hub solution?
7. What is the most relevant assumption/hypothesis of your Cultural Entrepreneurship Hub, and how can it be verified within the „safe“ period of its first year?
8. What will be the next concrete steps? What do you expect from the Goethe-Institut/Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship and what can you offer in order to get the hub running?
Each participant had about 2-3 months to present the findings to these questions which resulted in five concept papers for the following cities: Jakarta, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Thessaloniki.
